Baby animals are not exactly known for being the most graceful creatures, and that's okay. They've just found out that they have legs, and what's more, they're just learning how to use them. It takes humans an awful long time to learn how to use them, while many baby animals start right out the gate.

Just because they start earlier doesn't mean they're any more graceful, though. Just look at this video, for example. While the little cow does get up pretty quick, his barnyard buddies will never let him forget that fall:

Knuckle Bump Farms is definitely a place I'd love to fall down. I just know there are plenty of kind animals who would absolutely help me back up!

Knuckle Bump Farms is a star-studded place to live. They've got several emus there that have caused the place to go pretty viral: the emus are bossy, but their mom is bossier and does not mind putting them in their place. Beyond the emus, they have lots of other animals, including rowdy goats and even some fluffy cows!

The little guy in this video is Nathan, and Knuckle Bump's followers have been eating him up since the day he was born. His birth story isn't particularly wild; he was just born, and he's just beautiful, so everyone loves him. Luckily, his little tumble in this video didn't hurt at all: you can see him get right back up. Baby animals are hardy and built to take falls, don't worry!

What to Do When an Animal Falls Over

Most of the time, when an animal falls over, they get back up as quickly as they can. However, that doesn't mean they're not hurt, it just means their instincts tell them to get back up. If an animal can help it, their don't like to be down for long: otherwise, they're vulnerable.

If an animal falls on your watch, regardless of what kind of animal it is:

    1. Some big animals may not be able to stand themselves upright on their own. If you need to, help them up.
    2. Check for open wounds.
    3. Watch immediately for signs of limping.
      1. If they do limp, feel that leg to see if it's hot, if it flexes, etc.).
    4. Brush them off to get excess dirt/grass/mud off their backs as possible to prevent matting.
    5. Continue watching over the next few minutes/hours for signs of other injuries.
    6. Watch especially closely for head injuries!

Most of the time, the animal will be totally fine and able to get back up without a second thought. If they don't seem to be hurt or acting strangely, you can continue on as if nothing happened. Any odd behavior is worth a call to the vet at the very least. Not for Nathan, though - he's all good!
