Rare Greyhound Puppy Sighting Has Everyone Starry-Eyed

There are some dogs that you just can't picture being puppies, because we never get to see them. When we finally do get to witness it, though, it's much better than we ever imagined because puppies, of any kind, are cute.

On Friday, August 9th, we finally got to see a Greyhound puppy for the first time ever (for many of us). He's basically just the definition of adorable. Google it and this video will come up:

I'm so glad @baxiwoailuo posted this video. Otherwise, I probably never would've seen this, and that would be absolutely devastating.

We don't have much more information about this pup in particular other than that he's very, insanely cute. The two hashtags in the caption suggest that this baby might be an Italian Greyhound, or he may be a full standard one. Whatever the case may be in regards to exact breed, both Italian Greyhounds and standard Greyhounds look about the same as puppies!

Greyhounds tend to grow up to be lean, long, and a little bit scary. They're fast, typically bred for racing, and they have the legs to prove it! Because of their slightly awkward body structure, they can often appear underweight even if they aren't, and they love to lie down belly-up. As he gets older, he'll figure that out!

Why Don't We See All Dog Breeds as Puppies?

The internet is literally bursting at the seams with videos of Golden Retriever puppies, German Shepherd puppies, Frenchie puppies, and more. You can find hundreds of videos of dozens dog breeds as puppies, but did you know that they barely scratch the surface?

The internet does a wonderful job at uplifting the "pretty" puppies of the world. However, ask yourself if you've ever seen:

    1. A Belgian Malinois puppy
    2. An Irish Wolfhound puppy
    3. A Soft-Coated Wheaten Terrier puppy
    4. An Anatolian Shepherd puppy

We've all definitely seen adults of breeds like these, but puppy videos can be harder to come by. This is a common phenomenon with rare or working breeds: their parents don't like to show them off until they're 100% confident in their skills. Always remember that social media is selective, and very few people enjoy showcasing the "bad" parts!

The best place to see rare dog breeds in general, not just puppies, is at dog shows. It seems like they typically have pretty much one of everything there, and you never know what kind of dog you'll fall in love with. You don't just have to pick from the most popular ones!
