Staffordshire Terrier's Anti-Itch Outfit Is Cracking People Up

We all have to do things sometimes that are much more functional than fashionable. It's just the way the world works, and there's nothing wrong with that. Whether it's us wearing an ugly outfit or something we have to put on our pets, function takes precedent.

One Staffordshire Terrier learned this the hard way on Monday, August 12th, when his parents had to get creative with their anti-itch methods. He may not be the most stylish pup at the party, but he's definitely the least itchy:

The Life of Pablo the Staffy is a hard one indeed. How is this poor, itchy boy ever supposed to make the cover of Vogue now?!

Pablo has some seasonal allergies, as many dogs to. Those allergies are making him itchy, and when he itches them, they only get itchier. Any human with allergies can relate, though we usually have the self-control to not itch without being put in a special anti-itching suit. Dogs, however, do not have that luxury.

Believe it or not, this is much more comfortable for him than it would be to force him to wear a Cone of Shame. This way, he still has full range of motion and sleeping will be a lot more comfortable. He's also protected in case he has to wear special creams: other dogs won't lick them off and they won't rub off on the furniture!

Staffordshire Terriers are Prone to Skin Issues

You name them, they have them. Staffordshire Terriers are famously itchy pups: their short coats are much easier for things to penetrate than other dogs with longer coats. They're also prone to allergies: food allergies, environmental allergies, reactions to certain medications - it's all a one way ticket to Itchy Town, population: Pablo.

When you notice your Staffy getting itchy, you should look around for signs of a bigger problem. Contact your vet immediately if the area is:

    1. Red
    2. Swollen
    3. Foul-smelling
    4. Producing any substances
    5. Losing hair

Several things, ranging in severity, could be the issue that's making your dog itchy. Once your dog has officially received a diagnosis and things like mange, infection, or any other serious conditions have been ruled out, the goal becomes to stop the itching - which usually means stopping your dog from itching. Rigging something up like this works perfectly well to prioritize comfort while barring them from licking/itching/biting affected areas. Pablo should be grateful: he could be wearing a cone!
