It's normal for our pets to want things from us and maybe even beg for them once they learn how. And sometimes, not getting what they want results in a hilarious tantrum. This is exactly how it played out for a pet pig named Merlin. When his requests were denied, he couldn't help but let Mom know how he felt about it.
The August 10, 2024 TikTok video shared by Mina Alali ( @mina.alali ) shows the upset pig throwing the ultimate tantrum. Take a look below!
"My pet pig slams the door in my face when he doesn't get his way," the clip says, showing Merlin, who presses buttons to ask for different things. He first asks for an ice cream repeatedly, but when Mom says "no more," he drags himself to the bathroom and shuts the door behind him. A moment later, you can hear him flinging the doorstopper to act out his rage!
Since that didn't work, he later asks for more vegetables, but again, Mom says no. What does this smart piggy do? He throws a fit just like a toddler might, and it's the funniest thing!
"That's not nice," she tells him after opening the door. Except, he slams it again, and once more for dramatic effect.
"Istg he’s going through his teenager phase. He’ll be listening to My Chemical Romance in no time," the caption reads, and this couldn't be closer to the truth. Even Merlin's fans have a few things to say about it.
"See how he closes the door softly and respectfully? Very mindful, very demure," one person said. "Merlin went and started hitting the speed bag (door stopper)," another noted. "OMG, I LOVE MERLIN SO MUCH!!! He can be so dramatic but in the absolute best way!!!" another added.
Honestly, this pet pig not getting his way is literally the cutest thing on the internet right now (sorry, Merlin)!

Pigs Are Incredibly Smart
Merlin knows the way to get what he wants, and pigs, in general, are pretty smart. The Humane League says pig intelligence stems from the way they can differentiate between different objects and can even "perceive the passage of time," making decisions based on what they learned previously. This is amazing and explains how Merlin pressing certain buttons gets him what he wants.
Pigs have around "20 distinct noises" and "wags, nudges, playfulness, stubbornness, and smiling" to communicate their feelings, much like a dog! Their long-term memory, problem-solving skills, and ability to use tools are also unmatched. These empathetic, social animals have even been deemed smarter than dogs in multiple studies, making them man's other best friend!
Merlin may not have succeeded in getting what he wanted this time, but we're sure he'll keep trying until he does!
