Have you ever experienced an embarrassing moment while swimming? Whether it’s a big wave that knocks down your swimsuit or an unintended belly flop into the pool, it can happen to anyone, including our furry friends.

In a hilarious attempt, a brave Chihuahua was ready to try his first swim, but things didn’t go as planned. Despite the mishap, he maintained his positive spirit and earned a top score for his efforts.

Check out the video from August 12 to see this amusing attempt in action.

Potato’s mom, Baelyn (@ canineantics ), reveals that, unfortunately, this swimming mishap means he did not make the Olympic team. However, if there were a category for comedy, he would undoubtedly have taken the gold! He looks so happy wearing his bright red life jacket and being lowered into cool water. However, it only took a few strokes for him to flip over altogether. Oh my! I almost felt bad for laughing, but I couldn’t hold it inside. Luckily, Mom was right there to save the day, and even before she grabbed him, he had turned himself back over. He never gave up and continued paddling away with a slight head tilt, perhaps because his ears had filled with water. Don’t worry, buddy, we’ve all been there before.

    Can Chihuahuas Swim?

According to the Whole Dog Journal , while they may be small, Chihuahuas can swim . However, their tiny, nearly furless bodies get cold easily, so they don’t prefer spending time in the water. Even though some will enjoy the sport, they caution that because of their small size, they can quickly get swept away by currents or pulled under the water. So even if you have a Chihuahua who likes to participate in summertime fun , it’s best always to stay close, even if they wear a life jacket that keeps them upright.

This swimming failure entertained people. Viewer @tiffany responded, “I feel so bad for laughing so hard. I just have never seen a dog roll on its back in the water before.” It was a move for the records books. Viewer @NaraDarling remarked, “With that impeccable backstroke? Why didn’t they take him?” Ha! That’s an excellent point! Viewer @NurseMcStuffins revealed, “Potato looks exactly like me when I flipped off that jet ski in Costa Rica.” For any of us who have spent time in the water, we’ve all experienced something similar at one time or another.

If Potato can keep going with a positive attitude after a mishap like this, we can also keep moving forward with a smile. Even when things don’t go as planned, our attitude is everything.
