It’s hard to know what a rescue dog has experienced before being placed in a new home or foster care. While some might be carefree and fun-loving from the start, others are apprehensive and may show signs of abuse and neglect. Although it may take time, patience and understanding can help bring these dogs out of their shells.

One experienced foster mom, Isabell Klee, is skilled at doing just that. Despite her most recent foster initially appearing unwilling to trust, it didn’t take long before he started revealing his true self to everyone.

Check out this August 13 video to see his remarkable transformation unfolding as she gives him his first bath.

If you’ve ever considered fostering , Isabel (@ simonsits ) is a shining example of the positive impact you can have on dogs in need. Her compassion and loving spirit help calm frightened animals and make them feel safe. When she brought Twinkle home, he was so scared that she didn’t push him to come out of his crate. Instead, she gave him the time to relax and plenty of tasty treats to help build trust. It didn’t take him long to realize that she only had good intentions, and he soon started exploring his new home. Even though he had been terrified of men , he’s even showing affection for his foster dad. Dogs have a way of sensing kind souls.

While he now shows many signs of happiness, such as wagging his tail when he sees her, bathing him requires a different level of trust. Unfortunately, he needed it, so she took the chance to get him cleaned up. She was sure to bring lots of lunchmeat to the tub, and this trick worked like a charm. Although he may not have enjoyed the bath, it was worth the many bites of meat, and he made it through without showing signs of aggression or terror. Afterward, he happily rolled around in the backyard to dry off. What a good boy!

How Fostering Can Help Dogs Get Adopted

Fearful dogs like Twinkle can face challenges in finding a home when they are in a shelter, often being overlooked. The longer they stay, the more their fears grow, making it harder to find a family. Even if they are adopted, behavioral issues can often mean they end up being returned. That’s where having a foster family willing to help them overcome their fears and manage behavioral issues can make all the difference in their long-term success.

With the love of his parents and his sensational foster brother Simon, it doesn’t look like it will take this boy long to find his perfect home. What an extraordinary gift to give an innocent animal in need.
