Making friends as an adult is hard, but helping your animals make friends? That can be even harder! Unless you're pals with someone who also has the same kind of pet you do, it can be difficult to find a regular playmate for your furry friend — and that task becomes even more challenging if the pets you parent aren't of the more common variety, like dogs and cats. For example, if you're raising donkeys like the lady in the TikTok video below. It's not like she can take her donkeys down to the donkey park and see if they're able to find another one they can vibe with!
Fortunately, she was able to strike up a conversation with her neighbor who also has a donkey, but there was just one problem: the difference in size.
As @mojaveminidonkeys explained in this video, two of the miniature donkeys she's raising, Geronimo and Wolfie, recently discovered their neighbor's mammoth donkey whose name is Bart. The size difference between these types of donkeys is huge — mini donkeys weigh somewhere between 200-450 pounds, while Bart weighs about 1,000 pounds — but fortunately, it didn't stop anyone involved from forming a friendship.
After checking each other out through a fence, they all decided to go on a walk together. And while the situation totally could have backfired, it didn't. Instead, Bart, the gentle giant that he is, very carefully sniffed his tiny new friends and didn't fight back when Geronimo gave him a few kicks.
(Also, can we talk about how brave Geronimo is, kicking a donkey who is that much bigger than him?)
All in all, it seems like things went pretty well, and they're planning to take another walk soon. How cute is this group of new friends?!
The Beginning of Their Friendship
A couple of weeks before their walk, the donkeys' mom shared a video of their first introduction to Bart, and it really is sweet to see.
In the video, she pointed out that, in general, donkeys love to meet other donkeys and immediately recognize them as one of their species, but she was really curious to see how her tiny donkeys would respond to Bart, who is obviously so much bigger.
But as she learned, ultimately, the size of the donkeys didn't matter; they seemed to get along just fine anyway, and it went better than she expected! Or maybe they just recognized that Bart is a sweet soul. Either way, it's too cute to see their first interaction .
Something tells me this is going to be such a cute bond to watch unfold. Fingers crossed more videos are on their way!
