Foster Cat Graduates From 'Air Jail' to 'Ceiling Prison' After He Enjoys It Too Much

Cats commit crimes, it's a fact of life. They knock things over. They love to swat things, and they love to stalk us and prey on our ankles. Not a day goes by when a cat isn't doing something bothersome, and it's what we love about them.

Sometimes, though, they go too far, and actions need to have consequences. In that case, most parents have resorted to beloved Air Jail, but for one cat mom, Air Jail just wasn't getting the job done. On Tuesday, August 13th, she found another solution:

Pot Roast's Mom's journey as a foster mom has been one of the best ones to watch. She loves her kittens, and she encourages them to commit crimes as any good mother would!

Pot Roast's Mom (whose name we will never know) has fostered many kittens since her own first cat, Pot Roast, passed suddenly of FIV back in 2022. She had adopted two cats since then: Rocko, Faucet, and Coupon, though she recently lost Rocko and Faucet, too. Even so, none of this has curbed her desire to continue to foster. She's had two main litters since then: a potato-themed litter and a "Summerween" litter whose spooky names had everyone enchanted!

The one serving a jail sentence in this video is Cheesy, who absolutely loves being touched, pet, picked up, and placed in air jail. Even when she holds him against the ceiling to try and get him not to like it, you can hear him purring! Cheesy is un-punishable, and that's exactly the kind of quirky cat that Pot Roast's Mom loves!

Is 'Air Jail' Okay for Cats?

Most of the time, cats commit their crimes while they're sitting or standing on something. They use their paws as instruments of evil, and the floor is their stage. The only way cat parents can think to stop them is with Air Jail: you pick them up for a jail sentence of a few seconds and then put them back down. Innocent as it may be, it does make sense for it to be a little controversial, though.

Air Jail doesn't hurt the cats as long as they're held correctly, as in fully supported rather than held by their tails or the scruff of their necks. Additionally, Air Jail is only okay if your cat likes it a little bit: if they're thrashing and really not feeling it, grant them compassionate release and put them down. Cats raised in Air Jail will be more okay with it!

Air Jail is not actually intended to be a punishment : it's just a funny thing cat parents do. Bad behavior should be ignored or redirected, but never met with physical punishment. There are some things you should never do, no matter how badly they're behaving:

    1. Blow in your cat's face
    2. Hit or kick them
    3. Throw them
    4. Spray them or dunk them in water

Luckily for Cheesy, he loves Air Jail, Maximum Security Ceiling Prison, and his foster mom. This exercise is just fun for him!
