Husky Puppy and Maine Coon Cat Form the Most Gorgeous & Heartwarming Friendship

Dogs and cats can get along great if you do it right. They're more similar than we think: they're both annoying, they usually love to play, and they bond super strongly to the ones they love. If they're young enough, there's a huge chance they'll be the best of friends!

On Monday, August 12th, one family's crazy pair went viral. Almost no one is brave enough to take on these animals together, and we're having a great time living vicariously through them:

The Maine Coonies are incredible to watch. Honestly, they're pretty much the same animal, and they're both beautiful, too!

What a pair they are. The kitty's name is Casper, since he's white like Casper the Friendly Ghost. We're never told what the Husky's name is, but we do know that their mom is fully out of her mind in the best possible way. She has three Maine Coon cats, two regular cats, and a Husky. The bravery is insane.

Casper and the Husky came into the home at roughly the same time, and they've taken full advantage of that. Kittens and puppies are both very high-energy, which can annoy the older siblings in a home, so having these two there to balance each other out will be good. With any luck, the Husky will teach Casper to howl, and Casper will teach the Husky how to make biscuits!

Puppies and Kittens Have the Best Chance of Getting Along

When living things are young is when they do most of their learning. Our brains are simply sponges, moving through the world and absorbing everything we see. It's the time when we need to try new things, meet new people, and start figuring things out. When we age, integrating new things into our lives becomes harder. We've developed mindsets by then. We're stuck in our ways.

The same goes for puppies and kittens. If you want a dog (regardless of breed) to be accepting of cats and vice versa, you'll ideally start socializing them when they're young. That way, neither animal feels an uneven power dynamic that might make them feel threatened. For example, this Husky is already growing like a weed, and a big dog like that could make even a Maine Coon cat shake a little.

Even if you're not planning on getting a kitten or a puppy right away, bringing your pet around them when they're young will set them up for success. You never know when an opportunity like this will come along, and with gorgeous faces like those, you can't say no!
