Rescue Pit Bull's Favorite Snack Makes Him Literally Leap for Joy

It can be challenging for dogs to hold back their emotions when they truly love something. Whether it's food, their favorite person, or a toy, they can't contain their overflowing excitement. Sometimes, this means they also forget their manners.

This good Pit Bull boy might be well-behaved most of the time, but it’s hard for him to control himself when his favorite treat comes out. What’s even more surprising is the food that has him so obsessed.

Check out this video from August 13 to see what has him bouncing while breaking all the rules!

Even though pet parents want to see their dogs behaving appropriately, it’s hard to tell them no when they are so passionate. While most dogs might drool at the sight of hot dogs or chicken, Harvey (@ harveytherescue ) has a thing for carbs. I understand, I do, too. And this handsome rescue takes his love for tortillas to a whole new level. He doesn’t hesitate to grab a pack from the open refrigerator. Even if they’re on the counter, he leaps up with all fours to grab one without wasting a moment. When Mom holds them up in the air, he almost jumps over her head to get a bite. What a goofball! If there’s an example of a food-motivated dog, Harvey and his tortillas are surely it.

How High-Value Rewards Can Help Train Dogs

Dogs with a high food drive can sometimes be easier to train because snacks are their ultimate motivation. I have one rescue who will eat just about anything and will do just about anything to eat. However, my other rescue is not food-motivated , and it took some time to figure out what would entice her. Aside from praise, butter is the only substance that can make her do something she isn’t interested in doing. If your dog isn’t food-motivated and you are searching for a high-value reward , tortillas might also work for your pup. They are worth a try if they can help them learn essential training commands .

Her parents understood this dog’s enthusiasm. Viewer @sprockettotherescue reported, “How funny! For one of my dogs, it was buttered toast.” That sounds right. Viewer @boba.the.sustainable.mutt remarked, “Speaking as a Mexican, I feel like Harvey would appreciate one of the finest things this life has to offer: homemade tortillas.” He might not be able to handle those. Viewer @kona.and.francine responded, “When people are like, ‘my dog isn’t food motivated,’ and I tell them to get creative and let their dog try new things, this is what I mean.” That’s excellent advice.

Although we may not expect our dogs to enjoy a tortilla, they often surprise us. Exploring safe human food options for them can be fun for everyone and give us more ways to motivate them.
