How Do Dogs Choose Their Favorite Person?

Levi's loyalty is clear, and many dogs just like him play favorites. Dogster explains a few factors go into why dogs choose their favorite people . In general, they naturally prefer people who provide the basics: food, water, shelter, treats, etc.

Next comes who gives them the most attention. It may seem like a given that if you spend the most time with a dog, they'll choose you, but it really comes down to their ancestry. Since dogs, who are social by nature, derive from wolves and wolf packs , spending time with them strengthens the bond to be with their pack or, you. Unfortunately, this is where separation anxiety can creep in because they want to be with you all the time!

When dogs choose their favorite person, it's also likely from the positive associations they've connected with that person. It could be the one who takes them for a walk or the one who plays fetch. The social bonding helps them trust that person, creating a really special bond.

The bottom line? If you're lucky enough to be the center of your dog's world, enjoy every second of it!
