Story of Labrador Who Got Adopted by Chasing Down Doggy Day Care Bus Is Everything

Dog adoption stories really hit you in the feels, because all pups have one. For instance, Waylon the Labrador Retriever only wanted to find his forever family, so he did what any good boy (or girl) would do—he chased the very bus that would get him that.

A recent TikTok video shared by @weratedogs shows Waylon's incredible story and honestly, you're not going to be ready for this one. Check it out (and try not to cry)!

In the heartwarming clip captioned, "How do we get a seat on this bus? 13/10," Waylon, once a stray, accompanied his dog friend Motley to a doggy day care bus stop one day. Though the bus driver couldn't let Waylon on due to not knowing his immunization history, the Lab raced the bus for the length of the road to show how badly he wanted on with his friend.

Keller Creek's boarding and grooming shared Waylon's picture to Facebook to see if he belonged to anyone. With no hits, the mom of a dog riding that bus (who's also a Lab) offered to adopt Waylon. Now, he gets to ride on the very bus he once chased in hopes of finding a family with his new sister.

His perseverance is awe-inspiring and with 183,000 likes, many of those who commented said this story brought them to tears.

"Do you imagine that the other dog told him about the dog day care and how humans love them there... and he said bet. And now he has a home," one person wrote.

"I’m bawling, he ran for his new life. Little baby you did it!!" another said.

"Why am I crying?!!! This is the most beautiful story and the best happy ending! Yay for Waylon," another added.

Ways Dogs Ask for Help

Waylon is too smart for trying to get the bus driver's attention. There are a few ways dogs try to communicate what they need. Canine Campus Daycare and Boarding says dogs like Waylon might ask for help through their body language such as a wagging tail, eye contact, and alert ears, but not all of these mean the dog is comfortable. Be cautious when approaching and never make direct eye contact with them.

Some dogs vocalize by whining, barking, or growling to tell you the problem. You just have to play detective to figure out what they're saying or leading you to discover. In friendlier dogs, physical contact through pawing, nudging, or licking may be their way of guiding you to what they need. It's important to note that stray dogs may not show these things the way your dog at home might.
