An unbreakable bond between fur babies is a beautiful sight. They're there for each other when times are tough, even if it means helping the other get back on their feet. When one Golden Retriever was down and out post-surgery, Louis the Maine Coon cat got straight to work helping his buddy heal.

In the sweetest TikTok video posted by @shnuffis , Louis takes great care of the pup, as any good nurse would. Check them out!

In the 26-second clip that says, "My dog had surgery, and this is how my cat reacted when we got back home," the helpful feline carefully cleans his furry friend while he lays on the floor. The pup seems to enjoy the pampering session because his tail even begins to wag despite not moving any other parts of his body. Thank goodness, Louis was there to help!

The clip has already amassed more than 26,000 likes with many viewers completely in awe of Louis's dedication to the Golden.

This is what real friendship looks like, and it's a beautiful thing.

Cats Lick Companions for Many Reasons

Louis' job was clear. He knew his special licking routine would help heal his friend. According to PetMD , cats lick for a variety of reasons . Like Louis, they may lick to show affection or that you're part of their litter, the same way a mother grooms them as kittens. It's also something they do to strengthen social bonds. And, if Louis sees the Golden as family, he's only making their bond tighter by going through the licking.

Cats may also lick for attention if they've learned you'll give it to them, because they're little smarties. They might also enjoy the taste or are inspecting the scent with their tongue (like after surgery), they could so it to seek comfort as they would if they've been weaned to soon, or if there's a medical issue that's accompanied by illness.

If your kitty is licking to relieve anxiety, they may be a little more commanding as they do it. This is another nod to Louis, who may have been a little stressed out over his brother's pain.

Whatever the reason a cat is licking you or a fellow furry housemate, consider it a sign they think of you, or them, as their family. It's a blessing to have such loving creatures by our side and no knows this better than Louis and his Golden!
