A Newfoundland dog was the saddest pup thinking his family went outside to play without him until he realized he's joining them and his whole mood changed.

On August 14, 2024, TikTok user Chewy (@chewythenewfie) shared a video of a sad-looking Chewy whose mood completely changed in a split second. Take a look!

In a quick 15-second video , we meet Chewy, a gorgeous and giant Newfoundland dog who was feeling a little down.

"He thought they went to play without him, but I just needed to put on his vest," the text on the screen reads.

In the clip, Chewie is standing and looking out one of the windows in the house, where he sees his two human siblings playing outside in the big yard.

Mom saw how sad he was and told him that he was going to let him out to play, too. She put on Chewy's vest and took him outside. Off-leash, the dog took his full energy and ran to the kids with so much joy that he was going to be able to play out on the grass, too.

In a split second, he reached the kids because it looked like he was running full speed. We knew they had to have the best time out there and were ready for a nap when they all came back inside.

"No dog left behind," the video's caption read. In the comments, people shared how much they loved seeing this beautiful Newfoundland named Chewy, who was so happy.

One wrote, "Omg, this is such a dream environment for a dog like that. Look at all the open space!"

Another shared, "You can’t help but love Chewy; that bond is so strong."

Someone else added, "My dog hates when he thinks the kids are outside without him. he thinks he needs to protect them at all costs; he just sits at the game watching everybody walking by."

Another joked, "Chewy is a sprinter."

    One shared, "Adorable."

Newfoundland Dogs Are Known for Being Really Great With Kids

According to the American Kennel Club , Newfoundland dogs are described as being "devoted, sweet, [and] patient," which sounds like three perfect words to describe a family dog.

And that's certainly why families so love these gentle giants. They're known for being affectionate with family, good with other dogs, and good with young children, landing at the top end of the American Kennel Club sliding scale of family life breed traits and characteristics.

"The Newfie breed standard says that a sweet temperament is the 'most important single characteristic of the breed.' The Newf's sterling character is expressed in their affinity for kids. Trusting and trainable, Newfs respond well to gentle guidance," the club explains.

"These noble giants are among the world's biggest dogs, and acquiring a pet that could outweigh you comes with obvious challenges."

We're so glad Chewy was able to go out with his siblings.
