Having a solid schedule helps you and your dog get on the same page. In time, they come to look forward to certain parts of it and even know when to expect things, like food or a walk. For a Dachshund named Kirkland, going through the routines of the morning with Dad is the best way to have a great day.

In a recent TikTok clip posted by Matt Rossi ( @themattyrossi ), the Dachshund starts his day in a very special way with Dad, and it's pretty sweet. Take a look at their fun below!

In the video captioned, "Mornings don't always have to be hard," Rossi and Kirkland begin their day by making the bed, which makes Kirkland thirsty, so of course, he needs a little drink.

Once Dad's all dressed, he and the pup go outside for a potty break and a little one-on-one play time. The Dachshund loves his daily game of fetch so much, he takes a dip in the lake water to cool off after. Overall, this is a solid morning that Kirkland's followers can't get enough of.

"I appreciate this," one person wrote. "Ok but who was his breeder because I NEED my own Kirkland," another said, while many others noted the hilarity of Rossi's tongue-in-cheek dialogue.

The Importance of Routines For Dogs

There's no doubt having a routine makes life a lot simpler. No matter what happens in between, the major plot points and milestones of the day offer a little peace and stability. The same goes for dogs. The American Kennel Club advises dogs should have a routine in every stage of life.

Puppies have the most to learn so creating a routine where they practice and nail sleep, food, and potty times is necessary to help them adjust. Adult pups need the same but you can also add in training, grooming, walks, or anything to help them adjust to life changes like the addition of another pet or a big move.

For older, senior dogs, routines keep them on track and prevent unnecessary anxiety, even if their memory is fading. This is a good time to add in more potty breaks, too.

The key to making and keeping routines is to be consistent while teaching them what's expected. Before you know it, they'll have the daily schedule down and will look forward to it, just like Kirkland.
