Mom Unleashes Hilarious Hacks for ‘Dogifying’ House to Accommodate 5 Rescue Pups

While dogs can be a lot of work, the rewards of having them are worth every effort. They bring endless laughter, love, and joy to each day, making the extra effort a labor of love. In return, they ask for little more than a few special treats and their meals on time.

However, some dogs need us to provide them with specific accommodations. This is especially true when it’s a household with multiple pups.

See how this family has gone all out for their beloved fur children in this video shared on August 12:

If you have one dog, having a second isn’t a notable amount of extra work. However, when you go from 2 to 3 and beyond, the workload definitely increases. While our happiness does, too, as Tracy (@ tfo300 ) points out, it sometimes forces us to change our homes. Particularly when you have intelligent animals who enjoy figuring out the systems designed to keep them safe.

    1. One of their first changes was to swap out hook latches on their gates to a style they thought would help keep their Great Pyrenees in. Unfortunately, this intelligent dog figured out how to open them, too, which forced them to put on padlocks.

    2. They also had to get custom gates because, occasionally, their dogs decide they don’t get along. So, to give them their own spaces to run, they went all out and put in three separate sections. That could not have been easy or cheap.

    3. With five dogs and often a foster in the family, they also installed a backyard grooming station . Not only does it cut down on big grooming bills, but it keeps the pups happy. It’s a great idea!

    4. They’ve also ensured that blankets cover just about the air of every seat in the house because their pups relax wherever they would like. I have a closet dedicated to these covers.

    5. Their house is also filled with baby gates because their new great Pyrenees puppy is not allowed anywhere out of sight. Given what the older GP can do, that seems sensible.

    6. After investing in any fancy automatic opening trash can, they sadly had to deactivate it. That’s because it didn’t take their dogs long to figure out that their heads hovering over the sensor could open it, too. It takes them only a short time to learn where the trash buffet is.

After moving to Florida, we installed a fence for our dogs and a protection barrier to keep out the poisonous Cane Toads . Not only did this barrier cost as much as the fence itself, but we also pay for monthly toad collection to ensure they stay out of the rest of the yard.

Pet parents could also relate. Viewer @kaleaandleilaniwithsully shared, “I shudder to think of all the things we’ve done to our house because of our cherubs. This video made me laugh because misery loves company, right?” That’s so true. Viewer @ittybitty.piggy responded, “I’ve never related to a video as much as I did to this one.” It’s nice to know we aren’t alone.

The list of things we do for our dogs might be endless, but so is their love. Whatever we need to do for them is always worthwhile.
