Even though they may be older, senior dogs still have lots of life to live. Their spirits are the same as they were when they were puppies. However, they sometimes lack the energy of their younger selves, which is the same for us all.

As you might imagine, spending a day at the beach with your ten other rescue siblings would count as an exhausting experience. So, by the time you return home, sleep will indeed be calling.

See where this sweetheart landed for her nap in this video shared on July 19:

This lovely lady may be an older dog , but she still delights in embarking on family adventures. Her mom and dad (@ nayatribe ) ensure she’s always part of the pack, whether carried in dad’s arms, in a backpack, or in a stroller . It’s all how all dogs should spend their golden years. After a day at the beach, especially for dogs, with so many smells, sounds, and things to take in, it's not surprising that Yoda would be exhausted when they returned home. It's a sign of a sensational day when kids fall asleep practically standing up or when a dog naps this hard. Once you reach a certain age, there's only so much you can take, and it's possible to fall asleep before you make it onto your favorite chair. Even though her backside might hang off, she still looks pretty comfy for her well-deserved nap. It's the kind of break we’d all like to take occasionally.

Reasons to Consider Adopting Senior Dogs

Senior dogs end up at shelters or rescues for various reasons through no fault of their own. Sometimes, there’s nowhere for them to go when their owners pass away or enter a nursing home. Other times, they are turned in because their person can no longer afford to keep them. In some cases, work schedules or family changes can also result in their surrender. While it’s heartbreaking to think about what they must be going through, they make exceptional pets when given an opportunity to live a new life. Seniors are often housebroken and have low energy needs. Although it’s justifiable to fear that your time with them will be short, some outlast all expectations and are with their new people for many years. These loving companions want to stay by your side and are the perfect pals for movie nights and relaxing afternoons.

With a few weeks of summer left to enjoy, this is the perfect reminder to take our dogs on an adventure. It’s a terrific way to burn off some energy and make new memories.
