A turtle and a dog becoming best friends may sound unusual, but it's a heartwarming example of how animals from different species can form close bonds. Such friendships are not impossible despite their size, speed, and behavioral differences.

Even though a turtle is slow and calm and a Chihuahua is playful and energetic, they can complement each other perfectly. In fact, this sweet pair might convince you that opposites really do attract.

Check out this tiny Chihuahua's darling dance in this video shared on August 10:

Oh, sweet Skippy, you are one joyful pup, and your love for life is infectious! No wonder your turtle friend Tilly G (@ tillygthetortoise ) is just as excited to see you. Those little wiggles of happiness are just precious. The choice of music also perfectly complements these happy dances, and it's hard not to feel good watching this pup groove to the beat and bring his pal his favorite toys. Everyone needs a friend who makes them feel so cherished.

    Examples of Cross-Species Friendships

On farms, it's common to see animals of different species become friends and guardians of each other. Dogs are well known for their protective role when caring for livestock like sheep and goats. Donkeys and cows are known for forming strong relationships and becoming long-term companions. Even cats and dogs often form unbreakable bonds when they've been raised together.

According to BBC Earth , social animals will overcome fears if the benefits of social activities outweigh any potential dangers. They report other unexpected animal pairings , like two goats and a Timber Wolf kept in adjoining pens at the San Diego Zoo, that began playing with each other by running up and down the fence line and even resting together when they were done. They also cite examples like a deer who stood guard over a Canadian goose nest and a frog who carried a drowning rat to safety.

People enjoyed seeing this happy friendship dance. One person responded, "If the little animals recognize and accept each other without having the ability to speak, why is it so impossible for humans?" That's a brilliant point. Viewer @pinkashleye remarked, "I love Skippy and how much he loves his friend!" It's heartwarming to witness. Viewer @nicketysplitz responded, "Skippy got to be exhausted after a day of trying to catch Tilly's eye!" That's for sure! However, he doesn't seem to mind using his energy to impress his turtle pal.

To be happy, we don't need to have a ton of friends. But if we have one or two who love us and get excited about being with us the way Skippy and Tilly G do, then we know we are truly blessed.
