Maine Coon cats are a force of nature. They're so gorgeous it feels like they're not even real, and they're so playful they almost feel like they're just cat-shaped dogs. Everything about a Maine Coon cat is something noteworthy.

During one of his many play sessions, one Maine Coon cat's mom captured his playtime madness in slow-motion and on Sunday, August 18th, she posted it for all to see. His faces are just too funny to forget:

Maine Coons For Life has tons of cats to feature on their page, but Dexter is, by far, the best one. We love a playful king.

Maine Coons For Life (AKA Royal Kingdom of Maine Coons ) is a Pensacola, FL, based cattery - they breed Maine Coon cats! Dexter is one of the kittens from a litter born back in March, so he's about 5 months old, and, unfortunately, he's already been reserved by a family. Until then, the cattery gets to keep him around, and he gets to play with all of his brothers and sisters!

At only 5 months old, Dexter is already huge; he's the size of some full-grown cats! Since he's a male Maine Coon, he's only going to get bigger from here: they reach their full size by about 4 years old, though most of the growing is done around 2. While they might not get to see him as often once he goes home, they can rest assured that he's going to grow into a fine young man with lots of funny play-faces!

What do Maine Coons Like to Play?

Dexter's favorite toy in this video is a worm on a string that is also on a stick. He loves a dangly toy he can chase around, just like any normal cat would. In addition to traditional stick/dangly toys, Maine Coon cats love:

    1. Puzzle feeders
    2. Crinkly, soft toys they can sink their teeth into.
    3. Toys with bells in them.
    4. Lasers.

They're really not that much different from regular cats except for the fact that, since they're larger, they have more energy and might need to play more. In addition to regular play time, most Maine Coon cats can learn to enjoy things like leashed-up walks and even supervised swims! Other things, like their necessary daily brushings, can be fun, too! Don't be afraid to be a little rough, especially with a brushing glove: Maine Coons love aggressive pets. If I could get my hands on sweet Dexter, I'd be aggressively petting him until the cows came home!
