Rescued Great Pyrenees Does Most Gentle Tail Wags After Realizing He's Finally Loved

It's obvious what dogs miss out on when they don't have a forever home: Food, shelter, and safety are what immediately comes to mind. But then, there are the little joys that dogs with families get as a given that are, in some ways, just as important as the essentials, like getting the kind of affection they need to feel secure and thrive. And of course, having a nice, comfy couch to cuddle up on with their people at the end of the day, knowing they are loved.

We can see one sweet moment where all of that changed for a rescue dog who has just settled into his life with his forever family. Now, he knows that he's loved, and it seems like that's something he's definitely not ever going to take for granted.

This adorable footage comes to us from @pooftheboofdog , showing off how their rescue dog, a Great Pyrenees named Poof, is making himself right at home with them in a video shared on Monday, August 19.

His life may have looked a lot different before his forever humans found him, but now, here he is, cozy on the couch with his new mom before bed, getting all of the pets he could ever dream of — and judging by the look in his eyes, it seems like this is something he's waited a long time to experience.

But the cutest part of the video is when his mom pans to Poof's tail. It's wagging ever so slightly, but it's enough to let us know what this dog is thinking: he feels loved.

Viewers couldn't help but comment on how sweet this is, with one person writing, "He hit the lottery with you finding him and you hit the lottery with you finding him. A true love story."

    Poof's Story

Poof only recently found his forever family, and the story behind why they adopted him is a really touching one. As she explains in another video , his mom lost her dog of 13 years in February, which she said "left a hole in my heart I've never experienced before." Anyone who's been through the grief of pet loss knows what she means.

But then, in June, fate stepped in, bringing Poof and his family together when he stepped in front of her car while she was driving, all matted fur and covered in fleas.

"He was terrified and I had to carry him from the car to my backyard," she wrote.

They were able to nurse him back to health and clean him up, and he slowly started getting used to his new home and his new people and opening up to them.

It seems like Poof healed his mom, too... and that clearly means everything to her. What a good boy!
