Orange Cat with the Grumpiest Face Asking Mom for Cuddles Is a Sight to Behold

Some cats just perpetually look grumpy. Most famously, Grumpy Cat (may she rest in peace), but even since her passing, dozens of cats have gone viral for having grumpy faces, all trying to measure up.

None of them have really succeeded, try as they might. At least, none of them had succeeded until very recently. After waking up on the wrong side of the bed, this grumpy boy needed cuddles. Inwardly, he's probably very happy, but outwardly, he looks like he's been waiting for three hours at the DMV:

Cappy Bear is sincerely having a time. Honestly, by about Wednesday, I look just like Cappy does. He's perfect to me!

Cappy is amazing in every way. He lives in Nashville with his mom and two (slightly less grumpy) siblings. He was rescued during quarantine: he's originally from Dubai, but was shipped off to an American shelter. While we're not sure what happened, he was found in the streets, paralyzed. Over time, he made a decent recovery and regained a lot of mobility, minus a few things: he no longer has a tail, and he can't go potty on his own.

Ever since he came home, he's been looking very grumpy, and with that kind of a backstory, he deserves to be grumpy! However, his mom assures everyone that he's definitely not grumpy: he's a happy boy with a hilarious resting face. He's also a Persian cat, and if you've ever seen a Persian cat, you know they all look a little grouchy!

What Makes Persian Cats Look So Angry?

Looking at a Persian cat and meeting one are two different animals, honestly. They're intimidating, yet beautiful, and fluffy enough that you might feel a little conflicted about petting them.

Persian cats have naturally flatter ears, which we typical associate with angry/fearful cats. They also have kind of an awkward, "hulking" posture, leading to a bowed head that makes it look like they're scowling at you. Many Persian cats also have little "eyebrows" that help add a layer of anger to their faces. Even so, don't let their faces fool you; Persian cats are often kind , docile, and love to be petted.

If you're worried your Persian cat is actually angry, you'll notice that they're actually shying away from you, growling, or lashing out when you reach out to pet them. Most of the time, it's not something you need to worry about: that's just their face!
