Golden Retriever's Dramatic Response to Being Denied Chocolate Treat Deserves an Oscar

While my dog's happy face is my favorite way to think of her, the way she looks when she's sad is the one that really sticks out in my mind — mostly because I hate that she would ever feel sad. But sometimes, she's truly just being dramatic, and I am pretty sure that goes for all dogs. They whip that sad face out on us for just about every reason, since they know it works like charm. You could be leaving the park after two hours of fun, and that sad face will still be there when it's time to go home.

And in the case of the dog in the TikTok video below, the sad face is coming out because his parents said no to something that would only hurt him. He doesn't care about that, though. All he knows is that he isn't getting what he wants, and for that, someone must pay! Here comes the guilt trip...

According to what dog mom Hannah Bloch explained in the video, her Golden Retriever , Moose, is very upset he was denied a treat that would have only made him sick.

"Pls pray for Moose — nothing's wrong with him, we just told him he's not allowed to have any of our chocolate milkshake," she wrote, adding a heartbroken emoji.

There's no doubt that Moose knows how to lay it on thick. He's looking as sad as can be, chin on the coffee table, staring at the TV without looking at his mom. And when he does finally look at her, it's even sadder. We might just be looking at the dog who invented puppy dog eyes.

The fact that she chose "Angel" by Sarah McLachlan — you know, the saddest song ever that usually accompanies commercials about dogs in need — as the background music for this video really sells it, too. So much drama!

Why Does Chocolate Make Dogs Sick?

As sad as Moose was, his mom was right not to give him a taste of her chocolate milkshake. Unfortunately, it really can be toxic to dogs.

As VCA Animal Hospital explains, dogs can get something called chocolate poisoning due to the way that they metabolize theobromine and caffeine, which are both found in chocolate. The darker the chocolate, the more toxic it is for dogs.

There is good news: If your dog accidentally eats chocolate, don't panic. While they may end up being really sick, VCA Animal Hospital states that chocolate poisoning is rarely fatal. If you suspect or know that your dog has ingested some, call your vet right away, and watch for symptoms like vomiting or diarrhea, increased panting, and racing heart rate.

Sorry, Moose — you couldn't win this one. But trust me, you're better off!
