Generally speaking, people usually try to keep their cats out of the kitchen, though it often doesn't go as planned. Cats love countertops. They feel at home there. Countertops make cats happy.

So does cooking, apparently: just look at this video from Monday, August 19th. When one grey cat noticed his dad was cooking, he got so excited that they just had to stop for a quick snuggle:

"The Intrusive Cat" is the perfect username for this little cat. It's amazing, he's amazing, everything is perfect here!

The Intrusive Cat's actual name is Ash, and he gets his nickname from the fact that he'd literally crawl under his dad's skin if he'd let him. Ash loves toys, snuggling, and most important, cooking. There aren't that many videos ion his account, but most of them are in this corner of the kitchen!

For as intrusive as he is, Ash also knows how to be respectful: he's more interested in dad than he is in the food. While letting the cat help him cook is certainly not super time-efficient (since he has to stop what he's since every 5 seconds), but it's definitely keeping his heart full. Fill your heart first, everything else will follow!

How to Train Cats Not to Jump on Counters

Ash can pretty much do whatever he wants, and that's fine - everybody trains their cats differently. However, one of the things a lot of people focus on is, in fact, not letting your cat jump on the counter.

If that's what you're after, there are a few tips to follow:

    1. Try not to leave enticing items on the counter, like food, treats, water cups, or boxes.
    2. When they jump up, take them off immediately and put them in time out.
    3. If they look like they're about to, try redirecting them with toys or a different task.
    4. Move things away from the counter that they may be using to get up.
    5. Put tape, foil, or plastic wrap on the counter - they hate the feeling of those!

If you're persistent with it, your cat will eventually realize that the counter is nowhere they want or need to be. You should avoid physical punishment, just as you should with any animal : all it will do is teach them to fear you. Spray bottles, hitting, pinching, and pulling their tails are unnecessary.

Luckily for Ash, his dad loves him very much, counter-jumping and all. I bet he's learned a thing or two about cooking, too!
