'Nervous' Rescue Staffy Mix Lies On Top of Her Dad to Calm Down and It's Perfect

Dogs get nervous, it's just how things go. Lots of things can make a dog nervous, and only some of them are things that their humans may be doing wrong. Sometimes, dogs are just nervous by nature, and there's nothing wrong with that.

However, just because a dog is nervous doesn't mean they don't deserve to be loved, and it doesn't mean they can't get better. In fact, on Tuesday, August 20th, one rescue mom took to TikTok to show off her newest rescue's relationship with her older one, and it's everything:

Harvey the Rescue came long before Azula did, and he's spent years being loved - he was ready to pass some of it on. This is just so precious!

Harvey was rescued in 2021, after being abandoned on the streets during a hurricane. His rough start had made him incredibly anxious, and as a result, he was aggressive. Before he was 9 months old, he had been adopted and returned to shelters 4 different times - until Abby came along. Not only did she have to work with him on being less anxious, but she also had to deal with his fear of men. Now, Harvey loves her boyfriend (though mom is still his favorite!).

Last year, Harvey's mom decided to bring in someone new, another Staffy/Pit mix named Azula. Though Harvey isn't her biological dad, he's definitely taken on that role for her: he lets her lie on him when she needs to chill, he plays all of her games, and he even lets her give him kisses!

Should You Get Your Dog a Dog?

Getting a dog for your dog is a bit of a controversial topic. Some say that getting your dog a dog is not a good idea, while others preach heavily about the benefits of doing so. Harvey had spent some time around other dogs before Azula came in, so they knew he'd be okay.

If your dog seems lonely, has separation anxiety, or is depressed, getting another dog may be a good idea. Having another dog around to keep them company and distract them is a great start to helping them feel better. When dogs are grieving lost companions, giving them another animal to focus on helps take their mind off of it.

When you're considering getting your dog a dog, though, you need to make sure that you're ready to have another dog; don't just jump into getting another dog without having a plan in place to manage them. It won't do your first dog any good if all their new companion is doing is stressing you out!
