A sweet little Dachshund grabs his cuddly teddy bear when he's sleepy, just like a human kid would, and it's so adorable.

On August 21, 2024, TikTok user Truffle the Weenie (@truffletheweenie) shared a video of Truffle the Dachshund and his adorable cuddle routine. Take a look!

In a short but adorable video posted to social media, we meet Truffle, a sweet cream-colored Dachshund who loves his teddy bear.

"Whenever he is tired, he goes to his crate and grabs his bear so that he can take it back to the couch to cuddle with it," the text reads.

And that's what we see in the video, too. Truffle walks to his dog bed and goes inside. When he comes back out, he has a really cute teddy bear in his mouth. He walks calmly through the room.

When he gestures to the hallway that will lead to the couch, Truffle runs with the bear still in his mouth. He's excited to cuddle with his favorite toy.

"He just wants to cuddle," the video's caption reads. And in the comments, people had so much to say.

One wrote, "Omg, that is the sweetest thing."

Another shared, "We donā€™t deserve these precious fur babies."

Someone else added, "Well, now we need a video of them cuddling."

One shared, "Not to be dramatic, but I would die for truffle."

How Much Sleep Should a Dachshund Get Each Day?

According to Dachshund Space , Dachshunds tend to sleep a lot; on average, adults must sleep 12 to 14 hours a day. "This encompasses nighttime sleep and sleep through the day," the site explains. "Adult Dachshunds have a set schedule, and they can change their sleep routine depending on their familyā€™s lifestyle."

When it comes to Dachshund puppies , they need a lot more sleep since they have huge bursts of energy and are spending a lot of that energy growing. Dachshund Space estimates puppies need approximatelyĀ 18-20 hours in a day.

"This sleep is essential for their physical growth, immune system strength, and cognitive functions that encompass learning and memory consolidation," the site explains. "The sleep is broken up mainly into nighttime sleep and several naps during the day."

Senior dogs also need a little extra sleep than adults, approximately 14 to 16 hours of sleep a day. Some days will be a little more, especially if it was a high-exercise day.

There are a few reasons why Dachshunds sleep as much as they do, and Dachshund Space says one of those reasons is rooted in history.

"Dachshunds were originally bred for hunting. Such a task required bursts of intense activity followed by periods of rest. This ancestral trait persists in the modern Dachshund, manifesting as a pattern of high-energy spurts interspersed with long stretches of sleep."

The site says that a Dachshund's body structure is also a factor in why they need a lot of sleep. "Their long spine and short legs also contribute to their need for more rest, as their physique can lead to quicker fatigue compared to other breeds."
