Sweet Poodle's Incredible Haircut is Taking the World by Storm

One of the most fun parts of having a hairy dog is that you get to have them groomed however you'd like. There might be some trial and error when it comes to finding a good groomer, but it will happen eventually.

On Monday, August 19th, one dog dad who doubles as a dog groomer showed off his Poodle's new 'do, and it's actually a little wild. No one was expecting him to come out looking like this, but we're evidently pretty glad he did...

Dogs by Logan don't always get this treatment, but this lucky Poodle actually belongs to him. You can't be a dog groomer and let your dog walk around unkempt!

Logan has one dog of his own: this Poodle, Raikou. For all the dogs he posts on his page, Raikou is the most frequent flyer - everyone wants to see every time he gets a cut. Typically, Logan treats Raikou to a true spa treatment, complete with a dog-safe dye job on the tip of his tail and... a party in the back.

This kind of a cut takes Logan hours to complete, and we can see a bit of why in the video: he has to meticulously craft those things, like hedges. Rather than shaving, he usually goes for cutting with scissors; it might be better for their coat, but it takes longer. Luckily, by now, Raikou is used to it, and he loves getting groomed. I'm sure he gets tons of compliments!

Best Ways to Style a Poodle

Should we all be striving to give our dogs this amount of style? Absolutely, but let's be honest, something like this takes hours, and if it's not you grooming your dog, it'll probably cost quite a bit. Many people can afford a custom cut like this, but many can't. The most important part is that the coat is evenly cut, short enough to avoid getting in their eyes, doesn't restrict their range of motion, and is free from matting or tangles.

If you're balling on a budget or know that you just don't care for elaborate styles, there are lots of cute and functional ways to keep your Poodle looking sharp. You can:

    1. Just ask for the basics; a trim that keeps your dog's coat long, but comfortable.
    2. Ask for that classic "leg warmer" look, which is both stylish and functional.
    3. Ask for a "teddy bear cut," which trims down the edges of the dog, but leaves the face fluffy and stuffed animal-like.

In most cases, a groomer goes in to do the trimming with a set of clippers - it's not a full shave. They will stop there if you ask them to, but it typically takes scissors to create those elaborate (and in Raikou's case, very round) edges. Raikou functions fine with that much fur back there, but you should take your Poodle's personality into account; if they're messier about their doggy business, you might spend a lot more time in the bath. Happy grooming!
