If you have a dog, chances are, you know what it feels like to never be alone. Going to the kitchen? They're going, too. Taking a shower? They don't mind waiting right near you until you're done, thank you very much. There's no such thing as personal space, and honestly, that's why we love them. Mabel the English Bulldog has her own special way of making sure Mom never leaves her sight, and it's too funny.

On August 21, 2024, Mabel's Mom @kimberleecarr8 posted the hilarious video showing where she hides to keep tabs on Mom, and it's brilliant. Take a look below!

In the 16-second clip captioned, "Always watching…. Always judging," Mabel found the perfect hiding spot on the couch so she can see wherever Mom goes.  As the camera zooms in, the Bulldog's sweet face is staring right back, creeping on her mom the way dogs do. Even as the camera pans back, Mabel never loses sight of her human which is so relatable.

In Mabel's 3 years, she's shown her personality through and through. Whether she's standing on tables for attention or playing with her Bark Box until she nearly falls asleep, Mabel knows how to play it up for the camera so it's no surprise she's got an eye on Mom at all times.

Possible Reasons Your Dog Is Watching You

Mabel excels at creeping and as it turns out, The American Kennel Club says there are a couple of reasons dogs might stare at us . Because dogs are so in tune with human emotions, they could be watching you to understand how your actions "impact" them. If they were to stare at you while you grab the food bowl, they soon learn you're going to fill up their bowl. They're teaching themself signals.

Likewise, if they know commands, they might be waiting for you to use one which the site says is particularly true when you've trained them with positive reenforcement (i.e. treats!).

Another obvious reason they're watching your every move might be to tell you something. They might need to go potty or are asking for a chew. However, some dogs learn how to get what they want by staring at us until we give in, so it's important to weed out what they might need.

Other times, staring or watching you move through the house might be a way for them to tell you how they're feeling. In a "hard stare" or resource guarding, dogs will give other body language signs, like stiff posture, telling you to back off.

Generally, soft staring is a ways for dogs to express their love for you. If you stare into their eyes when they're doing this, it releases oxytocin, the happy-making chemical, which boosts feelings of trust and love, making your bond even stronger.

Mabel may have been onto something with her hiding spot. Maybe she was just trying to tell Mom she loves her and it definitely had nothing to do with wanting a treat!
