I hope you're all ready: Halloween starts in approximately 9 days. Whether you're pulling your best decorations out of a bat-filled attic or planning your costumes for the big night, you'd better start prepping now. We are!

If you'd like to add another piece to your ensemble, it's time to start considering pet costumes, and luckily, PetSmart has your back! Their new "Thrills and Chills" collection has officially launched, bringing with it everything from costumes to toys and even socks. No matter what pet you have, you can totally find something. Even for the most non-spooky pets around!

The Thrills and Chills collection includes lots of different costumes, including some generic costumes (like the adorable one pictured above), but also lots of licensed options. With the new launch, you can dress your pet up like some of your favorite characters from:

    1. Beetlejuice
    2. Wednesday
    3. Squid Game
    4. Stranger Things
    5. The Joker
    6. Scooby Doo
    7. Peanuts (um, hello, a Beagle in a Snoopy costume? I would cry my eyes out)

If your pet isn't one for costumes, though, you don't have to miss out! Along with costumes, you'll find tons of both licensed character and regular toys, harnesses, collars, and leashes. Even if your pet hates costumes, walking them around on Halloween night with a spooky harness and leash is just about the most adorable thing ever.

How to Choose the Right Size Pet Costume

Thrills and Chills' pet costume come in a decent range of sizes, from X-Small to X-Large. With that kind of range, you'll most likely be able to find something that will fit your pup, especially since most of the costumes favor a "hoodie" style rather than a traditional structured costume. Along with sizes and precise measurements, you'll typically find breed recommendations on the packaging when you look at the costume.

However, those recommendations aren't always the most accurate; dogs vary so widely, you never really know. Before you purchase a costume of any kind for your pup, you should:

    1. Measure them at home around the chest and neck and from the neck to the tail.
    2. Bring your measurements with you and compare them to those on the packaging.
    3. If your dog is between sizes, always size up, not down.

If your dog is iffy about clothes, it'll be easier for you to get them to wear something like one of the adorable hoodies in this collection than it would be to put them in something with more coverage. If you plan on taking your pet out in the costume, they'll still need a leash - a collar will be easier to work with. Happy Halloween - if I see a dog in any of these costumes trick-or-treating at my house, I will be giving them a treat!
