No matter how much we want it to, nothing ever stays the same. This is especially true with two and four-legged kids. In the blink of an eye, they go from a baby to a teen; before you know it, they’re full-grown adults. Although we may not stop the hands of time from turning, we can embrace the next chapter they bring.
Just like this darling rescue donkey, who is outgrowing the need for bottle-feeding. But the joy of watching him fall in love is equally endearing. See him cozying up to his new sweetheart in this video from August 19:
These two are precious, and I could watch them snuggle all day! It’s incredible to think that this baby donkey is old enough to date. Cash (@ oursimple.homestead ) has come a long way, and it’s a testament to the outstanding care he’s received from his doting human parents. Now that he’s a big, healthy boy, he can share his love with his new girl, and his lady seems just as pleased to have his affection. If we were to look up happiness in the dictionary, these two innocent lovebirds could easily serve as the perfect example.

Do Donkeys Make Friends for Life?
Donkeys often form strong bonds with other donkeys but can also become friends with animals such as horses, dogs, and even humans. They are highly social and become distressed when separated from their companions. Once they find their friends, they do nearly everything together, including grazing, grooming, and showing signs of protection for each other. Because of their social nature, they thrive when kept in pairs or within herds.
People were thrilled to see this donkey’s progress. Viewer @pamelacoloccia shared, “Oh goodness and oh, so sweet. Cash is indeed growing up, and I love it! Big hugs!” It’s a beautiful sight to see. One person remarked, “I didn’t realize he had a girlfriend. He & you are so fun to watch when we all need to laugh or be lifted.” They grow up fast, but his story has still only just begun. Viewer @sassysouthernnana responded, “I wondered how you would get him out of the house and into the barn/stable to sleep, etc. I love that nature made the way. His moving out of the house will probably be harder for you guys than him. That will be a blessing for all. You guys are so sweet, kind, and loving. Thank you for sharing your lives and Cash with us.” His journey has been a gift for us all to witness.
Even though it must be tough to let him go, his parents can sleep well, knowing they raised him to have the courage to be himself. While he might not need a bottle much longer, there’s no doubt he’ll still be thrilled to see them each day.
