As pet parents, we often try to assume what our animals feel. However, their behaviors are sometimes so unique that we wish we understood their thoughts exactly. While we may never know, it can be fun to speculate.
This dog dad's priceless commentary on what his German Shepherds are thinking sounds accurate, but more than anything, it's hilarious! Listen to what he believes they might say if they could in this video shared on August 17:
Brett (@ laughwithbrett ) seems spot-on with his interpretation of his two beautiful German Shepherds . I always imagine what my dogs may think, and it turns out many pet parents are on the same wavelength. Our four-legged comedians give us a lot of material and goofiness to consider.

For example, when he’s indisposed in the bathroom, and one of his pups gets a case of the zoomies, they probably think they are uncatchable. When the dad comes home from work, these girls might chat about any mistakes they’ve made during the day and try to keep it quiet. There’s also a good chance they will discuss ways to ensure we never leave again. Ha! Dad also feels that they coordinate and act cool when they make a mess to pretend they have had nothing to do with it. So true! Like human children, when one seeks attention, the other tries to join the conversation. The perfectly timed “Ask him, ask him” seems to fit!
How Smart Are German Shepherds?
According to the AKC, canine psychologist Stanley Coren reports that German Shepherds are among the top three smartest dog breeds in obedience and working intelligence. They possess strong problem-solving skills and can think independently. For training, this breed can usually learn a new command with only five repetitions, and it’s believed that they possess the mental ability of a two-and-a-half-year-old human child.

These silly girls and their hilarious dad always know how to make our days brighter. While we may never know what they’re thinking, perhaps it’s more funny to guess.
