No matter how many birthdays we are lucky enough to celebrate with our dogs, it will never feel like enough. That’s why parents make the effort to maximize each one. While some might take their pups to the beach for the day, others make them a special cake.

Although a few might consider this backyard celebration a little over the top, dog lovers everywhere will understand the memories made and the value of an experience like this. Check out this video from August 21 to see the epic party this dog dad threw for his Golden Retriever.

What a great day to be a dog! Sammie (@ lifewithgoldens7 ) got a big gift from his dad to commemorate his birthday. Just like a human child's celebration, he rented a giant backyard water slide to have hours of fun. Initially, Sammie struggled to climb the ladder, but eventually, he made it to the top and took his first trip down safely inside Dad’s arms. This day got even better when Dad brought out a bucket of balls. Now, this good boy could have two of his favorite things. Talk about a party! I’m not sure about you, but my heart almost stopped when I thought a dog had fallen down the slide and Dad crashed into the poor creature. That is until I realized it was only a stuffed toy. Eek! That sure was realistic!

Fun Ways to Celebrate a Dog's Birthday

    • If you don’t have a yard big enough for a water slide, you might be happy to learn that, according to Sniffspot, dog water parks may be available in your area. You can often rent time and invite your favorite friends to join the fun.

    • Another exciting option is spending a few hours at the beach or a lake. However, check the regulations in your area before heading out, as some may restrict dogs to certain areas or times of day.

    • Agility courses can be another terrific way for dogs to celebrate their birthdays. They provide mental and physical stimulation, an excellent way for dogs to release energy and bond with humans.

    • Take a hike and have a picnic with friends. Dogs need nothing expensive; most just want to spend time with us and have our undivided attention. However, adding a steak as a cake never hurts, either.

If you’ve been considering throwing a party for your pup, this is a fun idea, especially if you have children or adults who would also enjoy spending the afternoon on a water slide. The photos alone will provide tons of memories that will make you smile for years to come.
