Mom's Funny and Clever Way of Keeping Cat Entertained Is Priceless

If you're a cat parent like I am, you know just how critical it is to make sure your cats are stimulated and busy every day. Without the proper amount of entertainment and exercise, they will quickly find ways to entertain themselves... and in my house, that usually means scratching something I really don't want them to scratch or getting into mischief that we will all regret. But by supplying them with items like scratching posts, their cat tree, and plenty of toys, they are far more likely to stay out of trouble.

What do you do if your cats don't like the typical mouse-shaped toys and laser pointer chases, though? Well, you get creative, like the mom in this TikTok video did.

According to what @biscuitwithab shared in this video that was posted on Saturday, August 24, her kitty cat, Biscuit, doesn't like toys, so she has to keep things interesting for her somehow ... and apparently, that includes moving things around in her apartment to keep Biscuit's brain busy.

Surprisingly enough, this simple solution actually works. She does things like move an office chair into a different room, leave a roll of paper towels out on the kitchen counter, and making her a fort using a table and a bed sheet. It's so easy (and totally free to do), and it seems like it works really well!

In another video, she offered up more of her ideas , like putting some clothes on the dresser that aren't usually there and throwing all of her scratching posts into a pile she can climb. Biscuit seems pretty happy!

Her vet recommended changing just one thing in the house per day to get Biscuit's brain waves flowing, and so far, that really seems to be working.

Entertaining Cats Who Don't Like Toys

If your cat doesn't seem to like to play, they may just be less playful than other kitties, but with enough effort, there's a good chance you'll be able to find a way to engage with them that they actually do have fun with.

One cat-dedicated website recommends setting aside a 15-20 minute block of time each day (ideally, the same time every day) to play with your cat. Mornings and evenings are when they tend to be most active, thanks to those hunting instincts.

If more traditional cat toys don't grab their interest, go for the classics, like empty cardboard boxes. You can also look for cat toys that are scented, which might reel them in better. Be sure to offer positive reinforcement like cat treats after your play sessions, and soon enough, they'll start looking forward to this part of their day... and maybe even initiating their own play.

And if all else fails, move a piece of furniture into the wrong room and wait to see what happens. It works for Biscuit!
