Siberian Cat Proves His Fluffy Fur Serves a Greater Purpose Than Being Fabulous

After years of evolution, animals have the tools they need to survive. For example, Siberian huskies have a warm undercoat and water-resistant fur that helps them thrive in harsh cold. Similar to how Maine Coons cats developed a thick, heavy coat to help them withstand the long northern winters.

While we may think of these layers of fur as a way to keep them insulated, they may also serve another purpose. At least for this spirited Siberian cat, anyway.

See how he uses his extra floof to his advantage in this video from August 22:

Although Nimbus’s (@ nimbus_siberian ) fur was likely not designed to be a crash suit, it’s good that he has a layer of padding to help him because he likes to play his games close to those walls. The hilarious growling accompanying his athletics is priceless! It's as though he's revving his motor, especially as this spirited fellow throws caution to the wind when he’s gleefully running around the house. However, with his extra layer of fluffiness, he probably can’t feel any pain, so it’s no wonder he’s not at all concerned about taking big jumps close to walls or slamming into his tunnel. Maybe our long-haired feline friends have their gorgeous coats for more reasons than we had previously imagined.

    Siberian Cat Characteristics

The Siberian cat is a majestic and affectionate breed that originates from the cold wilderness of Siberia, Russia. They are known for their thick, water-resistant coats that make them well-adapted to cold climates. These cats are often described as gentle, playful, and intelligent. They are also social and enjoy interacting with people and other pets, making them excellent companions. Despite their large, muscular build, they are graceful and agile, with impressive jumping abilities. Interestingly, according to Vet Info, Siberian cats are considered hypoallergenic due to producing lower levels of the allergenic protein Fel d 1, making them a better choice for people with allergies.

This hilarious kitty amused people. Viewer @katwayyne remarked, “Every race car noise Nimbus makes is a boost of serotonin.” That’s the truth! One person inquired, “This is a very interesting brand of racing car. What does it run on?” Ha! Plenty of tasty treats and good food are presumably the answer. Viewer @parkstras remarked, “Instructions unclear. My purrari just crashed out in the hall closet.” That’s the perfect name for this silly cat!

Whatever this lively boy runs on, it’s undoubtedly high-octane fuel. Perhaps we should consider trying it for a boost of energy as well. Who knows? It might be more effective than coffee.
