Raising brand new puppies from the day they were born is such a gift, but it's something that not everyone gets to experience firsthand. For the most part, if you're adopting a puppy, it's happening around the age of eight weeks or later, when it's safe for them to be away from their biological mamas — even the most experienced dog parents may never get to care for a puppy who is younger than that.

During that early period of their lives, they change so much, from the way they look to the way they behave, including with their siblings. Puppies aren't born already playing with the other puppies in their litter, of course. But as we can see in the TikTok video below, when it finally starts to happen, it's so cute that it's totally worth the wait.

On Saturday, August 24, @doodlingaroundindiana49 shared this beyond precious video of her litter of Bernedoodle puppies (or a mix of Bernese Mountain Dogs and Poodles). According to the caption, these puppies are only two weeks old, and they're just now starting to interact and play with each other for the very first time.

It's clear that they're all still very much trying to figure out how to exist in the world (and how to use their paws to get around), but that just makes for some of the most adorable footage.

Between their little squeaks and growls and the way they keep bumping into each other, it's impossible not to smile while watching this. They're sniffing each other and trying so hard to understand. They'll get there soon enough!

They're definitely going to need a nap after all of this excitement, though. Being a puppy is hard work.

When Do Puppies Start Interacting with Each Other?

While puppies do grow and change very quickly (far more quickly than most of us would like!), it does take them a little time in the beginning before they're ready to start playing with each other.

According to the American Kennel Club (AKC), most puppies will spend the first three weeks or so of their lives behaving much like newborn baby humans do. They're spending most of their time sleeping, and they can't really see, hear, or smell — all of which would preclude them from playing with the other puppies!

But it's around that one month mark where things really start to change, and they'll begin to interact with their litter mates and their mama. Next, they'll start wagging their tails, barking, and playing... and somehow, becoming even more cute than they were already.

I can't wait to watch this litter of puppies grow. They're already too adorable.
