If you love cats, you're likely familiar with the appearance and personalities of the most popular breeds. Maine Coons captivate people with their impressive size, while Ragdolls steal hearts with their laid-back nature. And, of course, we can't forget about the classic Tabby, who often becomes the most delightful companion.
However, this cat is unlike any I’ve encountered before, and his appearance makes it seem like he’s straight out of a movie. Check out this truly captivating feline in the video from August 19:
This is quite a style! While some might confuse this handsome fellow with a rat or a Pokémon character, Puck (@ werewolf_lykoi ) explains he is a Lykoi cat, sometimes known as a "Werewolf cat." Although he may have been born on Halloween, his look is not a costume. This unique appearance is a genetic mutation that prevents him from having an undercoat. His black and white “Roan” coat helps give him the appearance of a werewolf, and if he sheds, he can almost look like a hairless Sphynx cat , but he shares no relation to this breed. Even though he may not be a fan of the world outside, he is king of his home turf and loves to play and be silly.

How Rare Are Lykoi Cats?
This new breed is still relatively rare . According to PetMD, “The Lykoi cat breed was established in 2011 by veterinarian Johnny Gobble.” After discovering this natural mutation, this veterinarian took great care to establish the breed, working with geneticists to rule out genetic-related health conditions. While this breed is healthy overall, with an average lifespan of 12 to 15 years, they can be prone to the same health conditions other domestic cats face, like dental disease. Although their sparse coats might look wiry and coarse, they are soft. This fun-loving and bold-looking cat is well known for its high-level intelligence and easy trainability and for bonding strongly with their humans.
People fell in love with this good-looking guy. Viewer @jenn.allan responded, “I want one so badly! I think they are so neat! I’d name him Michael.” They are very cool! One person remarked, “Um... I never knew this breed existed before this video, and now I must have one!” They are intriguing! Another person reported, “And the energy level!! My Lykoi is 3.5 years old and wears out my other kitties, yet he still wants to play. I’ve never had a more energetic cat.” That’s good for potential parents to know!
This unique cat certainly has one of the most distinctive looks around. But regardless of their appearance, all our four-legged kids have a way of improving our lives.
