Even though your senior dog may not be as spry or as active as when he was a little puppy, there are still ways you can keep him happy and healthy in his golden years .

Check with your vet to make sure your dog is in good health for his age before trying any new activities.

Dogs of all ages can be walked, just make sure to check for signs of over-doing it by if your dog is panting, refuses to continue walking, or seems worn out. Shorter more frequent walks may benefit a senior pup. Let your dog to take their time and sniff around during walks. This is mentally enriching and provides a lot of sensory stimulation.

Play enrichment games with your elderly dog like hiding his favorite toy or try using a puzzle feeder for treats or a snuffle mat. A lot of senior pups still really love car rides!

Even senior dogs can learn new tricks or commands. Keep the sessions short and rewarding.

Some dog owners enjoy giving their dog a gentle massage.

Also maybe your dog enjoys the company of other animals. You can arrange calm playdates or interactions with other friendly pets.

Regular mental stimulation can help prevent cognitive decline in senior dogs. Adjust activities to suit your dog’s physical abilities and always consult your vet before introducing new activities, especially if your dog has health concerns.

Our seniors deserve the very best and we should do everything to make their golden years as wonderful as we possibly can.
