Cats have a way of finding comfort in the most random places. Whether it’s on top of the refrigerator, a shelf, or our head, they can quickly get cozy. They are not at all concerned about the world around them when they are happily off in dreamland.

It’s hard to imagine what it would be like if humans chose to sleep where our feline friends do. However, as this man shows us in this August 18 video, it would be hilarious!

It becomes so commonplace for our animals to do the things they do; we sometimes forget what it would be like if a human did them as well. For instance, Abram (@ abram.engle ) starts this hilarious collection of sleeping spots curled up on the kitchen counter. Yep, it looks odd when a grown man’s doing it. Seeing a full-size human napping behind the curtains or on top of the couch is equally strange. And it certainly doesn’t look comfortable to be draped over a dining room chair. Even his cat, Kurt, struggled to make sense of this pose. However, it does sees peaceful, resting isolated on the upper floor balcony. With a cushion, that might be a nice place to read a book. At least, it is a better idea than trying to squeeze into a tiny basket for a quick snooze.

Why Do Cats Sleep in Strange Places?

Our domestic cats may be used to living stress-free lives today, but they still have the DNA of their ancestors, which helps them stay safe from potential predators. Therefore, sleeping in odd spots, such as small, enclosed spaces or high perches, makes them feel secure and hidden. They may also choose spots that help to maintain their warmth, like soft blankets or sunlight. Sometimes, they may select to nap in places where it smells like their human or other animals, as it provides comforting familiarity.

Parents understood the allure of these locations. Viewer @spyder.byte reported, “To be fair, I have napped on the floor in the sun with my cats before, lol. Honestly, it’s top-notch.” It always feels nice to nap in the sun. Viewer @dj_paulette1 remarked, “Don’t mean to worry anyone, but I think I’m a cat.” Ha! It’s not the worst idea. Another person shared, “The top of the couch is pretty sweet. I did it when I was a kid.” I agree. It was also one of my favorite childhood napping places.

The next time we find one of our animals resting in an unusual location, we can picture what it would be like if we tried it. Thanks to Abram, we now know it’s a terrific way to have a quick laugh.

Fortunate felines. They can cat nap up to 17 hours a day without detriment to their physical selves.
