Rottweiler Tries Dog-Safe Chocolate and His Slobbery Face Says It All

I love sharing the things I love most with my dog, and for the most part, that's easy to do. Long walks on beautiful trails when the weather is just right, Starbucks runs (that include a pup cup for her, of course — I'm not a monster), lazy weekend afternoons napping on the couch or watching bad reality TV for hours. But as a foodie who especially loves sweet stuff, it is a bummer that I can't really share that love with my dog. Sure, she can eat certain human foods (in moderation), but it breaks my heart that she'll never truly understand just how chocolate everything can really hit the spot.

But maybe she actually can? One dog mom has discovered dog-safe chocolate, and after seeing her pup give it a try, it looks like it's certainly worth checking out if you want to treat your own four-legged friend to something special.

Another one 🍫 Let’s see how many people read the caption : This chocolate is made for dogs!! #rottweiler #dogsoftiktok #fyp

On Monday, August 26, @dycederottweiler shared a video of her Rottweiler pup , whose name is Dyce, trying out a dog-safe chocolate bar — though judging by the comments, plenty of people didn't read the caption and realize that this particular snack actually okay for dogs to eat!

It actually does look like a real white chocolate bar, for all intents and purposes, with little squares you can break off to have control over the portion size you feed your dog. And from what we can see here, it looks like a similar consistency to human chocolate, too.

Dyce was pumped before he even took the first bite, but once he did try it, it was over. That slobber doesn't lie: He loves this chocolate!

He gobbled it all up and went back for more, which is how I feel when I eat a good chocolate bar, too. Can't blame the guy!

    Chocolate for Dogs

It's pretty widely known that dogs are not supposed to eat chocolate — the ingredients can be toxic to them, and make them very sick (or worse).

However, these chocolate-like bars actually do exist, and apparently, they're dog approved (or at least Dyce approved). Though the OP didn't share exactly which bar she bought, there are all kinds on the internet, including on sites like Chewy, and I'm willing to bet you can find these types of treats at your favorite local pet store, too.

So how are they made so that they're safe for dogs? They're made of carob, which is similar to chocolate but totally safe for dogs to consume. Humans will also use it as a cocoa substitute in their own baking, so you know it's legit.

Can't hurt to let your dog share in your next chocolate craving. They might just fall in love!

It’s only dark chocolate that is toxic to dogs. Had a chocolate Lab eat an entire bag of wrapped Hershey’s kisses. She crapped foil for days but no other issues at all.
