Adding new fur siblings to the mix doesn't always go as planned. Sometimes, it takes a bit for them to warm up to each other, if at all. This was the case with Earl the Mini Dachshund and his older sisters when he first came along. But now, everything's changed—at least between Earl and his chocolate Lab sister. Now, they're finally besties and it's the greatest feeling in the world!

In an August 27, 2024 TikTok video shared by @naynayblevins , Earl and his big sis share a tender moment together caught on camera that shows their special bond. Watch how sweet they are!

The video that says, "Caught them holding paws," the two pups lay on the porch together, holding paws, after a high-energy play session. For the length of the 32-second clip, they allow themselves to stay connected, further strengthening their bond.

"Deep down they love each other!" the caption reads and that part is clear, but it's been a wild ride. When the Dachshund first joined the family, bis sis wasn't quite sure of him. After all, he's much smaller and has a much larger personality than his small frame suggests. But after spending a lot of time hanging out together, Earl has obtained an official spot in the sibling group.

These two, along with their other sister, have many people rooting for the trio.

"That little ween. So cute," one person shared. "I love the little paws," another added. "Soooo lovely and tender," another said.

The consensus is clear: this has all the makings of a beautiful friendship.

    The Benefits of Doggy Besties

Like humans, dogs also benefit from having close-knit relationships with other dogs. PetMD explains they can even have doggy best friends within their social circle. Being in the presence of their preferred companion reduces stress in anxious dogs and provides comfort and safety. They're also more tolerant and less aggressive towards their bestie compared to others and some of their decision comes down to their individual play-style.

You can tell who your dog's BFF is when they choose to be near their favorite companion most, ignoring or playing more with that friend. This includes sharing toys or personal space they'd not let others share. Just like Earl and his big sister, it'll be pretty clear. One day, they're navigating how to tolerate each other and the next, they're spending all their time playing, hanging out, and holding paws. How lucky they are to have each other!
