When a dog brings you a stuffie, you're supposed to play. That's the rule! It's a universal sign every pet parent knows. But sometimes there isn't time to play and fur babies don't understand. This was Chewy the Newfoundland's recent plight. The sweet boy tried so hard to get his kids to play with him, and when he least expected it, they took him by surprise.

An August 27 TikTok video posted by @chewythenewfie shows the determined pup attempting to get the kids' attention at all costs and eventually it pays off. Check him out!

In the clip captioned, "Big guy just wants to play," Chewy drags his blue octopus stuffie in his mouth, gently approaching one child in the living room, then another. Even though they're busy, Chewy tries and tries again to encourage some kind of play, meandering throughout the room in hopes of catching someone's attention. Then, just as Chewy all but gives up, one of the kids grabs his stuffie and play time is officially on!

The lovable lug is known around the web for his playful heart and hilarious antics involving his neighbor and favorite person, Grandma , but this scene had the internet in their feelings.

"He needs all the attention in the world, dude," one person said. "Went from screaming at phone to tears of joy!" another added. "This has got to be the best 'psyche!' video I've seen in a while..good job!! Went through the whole spectrum of emotions in 3 seconds lol," another wrote.

Chewy, bud, you are loved! If you ever want to play, we're sure there are plenty of takers!

Newfoundland Dogs Love Exercise and Play Time

Despite their size, Newfoundland dogs have a moderate amount of energy. Dogster suggests this breed gets between 30-60 minutes of dedicated play time a day. Though they're generally laid-back and calm, they've been bred to be working dogs so all that energy has to go somewhere!

Their age and weight have a lot to do with it, with puppies needing two 15-20 minutes sessions a day, increasing to 30 minutes as the reach adolescence. By adulthood, they reach that 30-60-minute mark, and that includes mental stimulation, too. Newfies like Chewy can get bored, so it's important to give them enough exercise they don't become destructive.

Whether it's a short walk a couple times a day or tossing around an octopus stuffie for a few, they'll love every second of it!
