Newfoundlands' Patience While Waiting for Roast Chicken Is Truly Unmatched

"Patience" is not really a word I'd associate with any of the dogs I've been lucky enough to spend time with, but some are simply built differently — especially if a high value treat is in play. Personally, my dog will hold it together for a couple of minutes before trying to snatch a treat out of my hand (not that I blame her for it, since treat time is very exciting). But I know there are dogs out there who will go out of their way to hold those impulses in for a surprisingly long time just to make sure that they aren't going to miss out on their favorite snack when the getting is good.

In the hopes that my pup will continue developing her patience, I'm definitely going to show her this TikTok video. When it comes to delayed gratification, the dog shown here definitely has unmatched talent.

Here, in this video shared by @lily_the_newfie , we see a Newfoundland pup named Winston waiting like a total angel so that he can have roast chicken — something he's clearly looking forward to!

But as much as he wants that chicken, he doesn't make a single, solitary move until the time is right... and even then, he takes it so gently from his mom. What a sweetheart!

The comments are filled with compliments from people who are proud of Winston for showing so much restraint, so if your dog is like mine and doesn't have patience quite like this one, don't be too discouraged; it would be hard to be on Winston's level, of course.

I can't blame him for being so serious about chicken, though. That's no ordinary dog treat!

Judging by his family's TikTok account, this chicken-loving dog has a pretty sweet life with his humans and his sister, another Newfoundland named Lily.

And just like Winston, Lily has a love for food... but she may not be quite as patient as her brother. In one video, we learn that she checks the fridge every morning after she gets up as part of her routine. You gotta know what snacks you have on deck for later!

When they're not earning their treats, Winston and Lily are totally outdoor dogs. Since they live in the country , they have plenty of space to run and chase each other around in, water to swim in, and long walks to take.

These are two lucky pups — even if you don't consider the chicken. And they're both so beautiful, too.
