Have you ever had a dog who enjoyed eating fruit? I have one that will devour nearly every variety and another that turns her nose at the idea. But it's not hard to guess this Pug's feelings about blackberries.

This adorable dog realized he had hit the jackpot when encountering this endless feast. Watch him joyfully picking his harvest in this video from August 20:

What a sweetie! Norris (@ norrisandedna_thesquishy ) is just too cute. He's found a delightfully ripe bush of berries and is not holding back when devouring them. He must understand that they're loaded with vitamins and low in calories so that they won't hurt his waistline. Dogs have incredible instincts, so he may also know that the season will soon end, and the berries will be gone for another year. There's a lot humans can learn from dogs about making the most of each day, and if we stop to savor the little things, we can find endless amounts of joy.

    Blackberry Benefits for Dogs

Blackberries are good for dogs because they are low in calories and rich in essential nutrients like vitamin C. They are also high in fiber and contain antioxidants. In the same way they can for us, these nutrients can help boost a dog's immune system, improve digestion, and fight inflammation. Blackberries also contain polyphenols, which may support overall health and longevity. Besides blackberries, dogs can enjoy blueberries and strawberries , as they, too, contain beneficial fiber, antioxidants, and nutrients. According to the AKC, raspberries can also be enjoyed in moderation. However, they contain high levels of naturally occurring xylitol ; they can become toxic and cause liver damage or hypoglycemia, which can be life-threatening. As with any new foods, please consult your vet before introducing them into your dog's diet.

Pet parents shared their dog's favorite garden foods. Viewer @redhillphoto revealed, "Mine do the same thing! Lol, and also eats my cabbage plants." I wouldn't have guessed the cabbage. Viewer @nickileerusso reported, "I have four pugs, and they are enjoying the tomato buffet this summer. I thought a 2 ft raised bed would deter them. I was wrong!" Oh my! Viewer @bytotop remarked, "Mine does the same, but she can not distinguish the ripe ones, so she bites them one by one and spits the nasty ones." That is understandable. I wouldn't say I like to eat unripe berries, either.

These last weeks of summer are the perfect time to introduce your pup to blackberries. If you can find a bush on your walk, it might give them even more reasons to be excited to go out each day.
