Kitten Reunites with His Brother and Goes in for the Sweetest Hug

If you're a lucky kitten, the beginning of your life will probably start something like this. Your mama will nurse you and care for you after you're born, and you'll spend the early weeks and months of your life playing with your kitten siblings. But ultimately, you'll likely end up being separated from them so you can live a beautiful life with a forever family. It's a little heartbreaking to think that our pets will likely never see members of their family of origin again, but at the same time, they don't quite form the same familial bonds that we think of as humans.

However, sometimes life (with the help of animal loving humans) makes it possible for animal family members to stay together. These kitten brothers are going to get to grow up alongside each other, and as we can see in this TikTok video, they're already off to an adorable start.

In this TikTok video recently shared by @renellehodgesx , the new cat mama explains, "we got a kitten but we didn't want him to be alone... so we went and surprised him with his brother."

Here, we get to see the moment that this little kitty sees his brother again for the first time, and OMG — it's like they were always meant to be together! At first, it was like they almost couldn't believe that they were together again, but as soon as they both realized that it was really happening, they actually hugged .

Before long, they were playing like no time had passed at all. It looks like they're both pretty thankful to have each other!

This must have been so cute to watch unfold for their new forever mom — especially now that she gets to see their bond grow as they do.

Should You Adopt Kittens in Pairs?

It's not always practical (or even possible) to adopt a kitten with their littermate, but in general, is it better for the cat's wellbeing to adopt kittens in pairs?

According to one SPCA, yes. Kittens tend to be better socialized if they are able to stay with their littermates for extended periods of time, and may end up being healthier and happier.

Having two kittens can also make it easier on humans, since they'll play with each other, keep each other busy, and get plenty of exercise chasing each other around the house (not to mention they will be so cute to watch).

However, the most important thing for any kitten you adopt is that you will be able to provide them with all of their needs, including plenty of attention, love, exercise, and playtime, so even if you aren't able to adopt two kittens at once, you'll still be cat parent of the year in their eyes.
