Huge Main Coon Cat Absolutely Dwarfs His Domestic Sibling and It's Too Cute

For those of us who are Maine Coon cat parents we can tell you one of the things that attracted us to this breed is their size. If you want to cuddle with something roughly the size of a medium dog that purrs like a cat and has ridiculously soft fur a Maine Coon is the pet for you. That is, until they jump on you with all of their body weight at 3 am.

One Maine Coon mom documented the size difference between her gigantic Maine Coon and his regular cat sibling and the size difference is just incredible.

The cute video was posted by the TikTok account for @ zeus.mainecoon.official and people have a lot of thoughts about the size difference of these two.

One person commented, "Yay for big kitties and little kitties and treats for everyone!" Another added, "I just love Zeus he is so big and beautiful the little cat is cute too I just love cats." Me too! Someone else responded, "Are you kidding me….. size of that beauty big lovely adorable cat WOW."

Wow is right. I always thought one of my orange Tabby cats was huge until I compared him to my Maine Coon and he basically looks like a kitten. Another funny aspect with Maine Coons and their size, especially when they are kittens, is that they don't quite understand how big they are which leads them to falling off of too small furniture and trying to curl up places they just don't fit. Their size doesn't match how they act as kittens at all so watching this gigantic cat chase a feather wand is always amusing. They are just gigantic gentle giants.

How Big Do Maine Coons Get?

    They are huge cats.

As the proud mama of a Maine Coon named Meatball I can tell ya, they get big.

My own Maine Coon is 10 months now and he is roughly four times the size of my other two cats, and he's just a kitten!

The average weight of Maine Coon cats is between 13 and 18 pounds for males or 8 to 12 pounds for females. They can also grow to be over three feet long.  Maine coons grow until they are about four years old, and my Meatball currently weighs almost 17 pounds. Now, that may seem pretty gigantic but our vet assures us he is absolutely the perfect size for his length and age.

It will be interesting to see how much bigger he gets in the next three years!
