Little Kitten Meowing for His Brother to Join Him at Naptime Is the Sweetest Friend

Kittens do better together, especially when they're really little. They need a friend to keep warm with. Without a friend, who knows what could happen to them?

On Saturday, September 7th, one little kitten was really missing his brother when it was time to nap. He was all the way across the comfy bed, so he did the only thing he could think of to summon him closer: meow up a storm. As it turns out, it worked like a charm:

I just know that @sunkittencats are going to grow up to be besties forever. At the very least, they'll be able to set aside their differences for a good nap every day!

These two are named Scoob and Doob, legal names: Scoobert and Doobert, after Scooby Doo. Recently, they went pretty viral when their mom got them this incredibly large bed for their incredibly small bodies. Everyone noticed one thing almost immediately: even with all of that space, they were still snuggling up together. Apparently, it's Scoob that demands it!

Luckily, Doobert is happy to oblige: when you're this tiny, you get cold fast. Having a cuddle buddy makes that much less likely. As they get bigger, they might spend more time apart, but honestly... I doubt it.

Should You Adopt Two Kittens At Once?

It's easy to look at Scoob and Doob and think that you must have more than one cat for your cat to be happy, but that's not always true.

Unlike with dogs, littermate syndrome is not a risk with kittens, and it's typically fine and even encouraged to adopt littermates together, or even just two random kittens at the same time. They will bond to each other, and they may even bond to each other more than with you, so if that's not what you're looking for, it's best not to get two.

Adopting two kittens may be the best way to go if you:

    1. Spend a lot of time at work/away from home during the day.
    2. Have no other pets to occupy their time.
    3. Know that one of them has separation anxiety and would benefit from a distraction.
    4. Don't love to play all the time (though you'll still want to play from time to time).
    5. See them advertised as a bonded pair.

If you have no experience with cats, you're honestly better-off getting an older cat to start with. Kittens, like training a puppy, take up a ton of time and energy. Luckily for Scoob and Doobert, they're in great hands!
