A Golden Retriever became fast best friends with a sick kitten, and their sweet bond is tugging at everyone's heartstrings.
On July 1, 2024, TikTok user Goldens Digger (@goldengidder) shared a video of a sweet Golden Retriever who was nervous around a small kitten only to eventually become good friends. Take a look!
Sometimes a friendship takes a little longer to form, and that's what happened for Clara, a Golden Retriever and a sweet kitten.

"How fast my dog and my cat became best friends," the text on the screen reads. In the clip, we meet Clara, a full-grown Golden Retriever, and a small black and white kitten who is sick, so he looks a little different.
On the first day, when the kitten came running to Clara, she got scared and ran in the other direction. On the second day, Clara took a little longer to run away than the day before, but she was still scared.
On the third day, Clara was a little braver and got up close to the kitten and smelled him while the kitten was on the cat tree. Then on the fourth day, the two started a little bit of play together. The kitten would tap Clara's nose and she would do that cute Golden Retriever hops.
The same thing happened on days five and six, and by day 7, the two were each other's shadows.
By day 10, the two were cuddling on the bed during nap time and getting really cute during their cuddles.
"My Golden Retriever was always there when my kitty was sick, and now he is all recovered, and they are absolute best friends!" the video's caption reads. And in the comments, there were more than a thousand who had something to share.
One wrote, "She's a Golden. Of course, they became fast friends in no time!!! Goldens are the greatest ever… I may be a little biased."

Can Golden Retrievers and Kittens Get Along?
The reality is that not all dog breeds get along with other animals, especially small kittens. But if you're looking for a dog breed that typically gets along with kittens and cats more often than not, a Golden Retriever is an excellent direction to turn to.
According to Nylabone , Golden Retrievers are "kind and empathetic," which makes them great friends with cats.
"Golden Retrievers accept cats readily as part of the family," the site explains. "However, this dog breed should be trained to not chase after the kitty early on. Once that is accomplished, the happy-go-lucky Golden Retriever and cat are sure to be a perfect match."
Other breeds that typically get along well with cats include Labrador Retrievers, Beagles, Pugs, Bichon Frises , and Shetland Sheepdogs.
