Cat Parents Transform Free Costco Find Into Majestic Feline Fortress

There are little pockets of luck in the world every single day. Some people will find $20 on the ground. Somebody else will get a job offer they really wanted. Maybe a sweet puppy will find their forever home!

Recently, a couple of cat parents lucked out finding a bunch of boxes for free on their last Costco trip. When they got them home, they decided to try and build something really cool for their big cat, and truly, it's mind blowing:

Costco is no stranger to pet care items. They've been putting out item after item, from dog beds to toys and even cat trees. If you're feeling lazy, you can absolutely find a cat tree there, for a decent price, and of a pretty good size. However, sometimes, you have some extra time, and nothing you could buy in-store is quite what you were wanting.

Such was the case for this couple: there are tons of boxes laying around at Costco all the time, and they're free to take. Most people use them to hold their groceries, but you do occasionally get a crafty couple. When they say them, Emma and her partner decided to take them home. They made a very impressive cat house out of them. How smart!

Why Not To Spend Tons of Money on Your Cats

Look at this. It's a fortress made out of boxes. If there's one thing everyone knows, it's that cats love boxes: they like the texture, the structure, and the way they have somewhere to hide in them. Whether you have one box or six hundred of them, you cat will want to play in them.

When it comes to food, treats, and veterinary care, spending a little extra money is perfectly fine. Anything that goes into their bodies should be high-quality! However, when it comes to things like toys, beds, and trees, spending tons of money is often not worth it. They just won't appreciate it the same way you might. There are a few main ways you could save money with your cat:

1. Make them "cat houses" out of cardboard boxes (which you could paint or papier-mâché to make look cute).
2. Use wood scraps, old pallets, and carpet remnants to make cat trees and  "scratching shelves."
3. Crafting sensory toys out of yarn, crinkly paper, and cat nip.

At the end of the day, the goal of cat items is to get used. They're meant to get dirty, to be worn and torn, and if you've spent tons of money on the "aesthetic" things, it might hurt a little. Resourceful crafts are a good way to reduce waste and pain on your pocketbook!
