Did your parents' or siblings' behavior ever embarrass you as a kid? If so, you'll understand how this Golden feels about his silly younger sister. Just like it is with humans, dogs have a knack for mortifying their family members.

While this good boy patiently waited to head home, this sassy little girl went rogue. Watch her make a scene in this video shared on September 8:

This beautiful girl is a character! MJ (@ keelymccann ) is so happy to be in the water that she doesn't mind misbehaving and making Dad chase her. In her defense, a lake can be irresistible to water-loving dogs like Golden Retrievers , especially when your ride home is in a boat. However, her brother Sunny is a distinguished gentleman who understands there's a time and place for playing, which isn't it. His disappointment is unmistakable, and it appears he's hoping his friends don't see him out with his wild and crazy sister. Thankfully, dogs aren't judgmental, and their other four-legged friends would likely understand her uncontrollable desire to take an after-dinner dip. And any humans who may have been watching undoubtedly enjoyed this adorable show.

Ways to Recall a Runaway Dog

    • Flip the script. Instead of chasing after your pup, see if they'll chase after you if you run in the other direction. Most times, dogs will take part in the game, especially since most don't enjoy being left behind.

    • Play on their emotions. Whether you become super excited or pretend to cry, overly animated reactions can tug at their heartstrings and have them running to be by your side.

    • Offer a high-value reward. This can be an activity like a car ride or their favorite treats like pup cups. Except for one of my current dogs, whose obsession is butter, whipped cream has always been my go-to recall term for emergencies and special occasions. I only bring out the can when it's essential.

    • Make some noise. Shaking a bag of treats, knocking noises, or an alarm can sometimes provide enough distraction to catch their attention.

Parents understood this funny situation well. Viewer @copperandslateco responded, "It's always the second dog, lol. Typical 2nd child behavior!" That's the truth! Viewer @jtothennabb shared, "Omg, this is my Lab as soon as he sees water!" Natural-born swimmers can't hold back the excitement; it's in the DNA. Viewer @reefthelab remarked, "There's always one!" It's the same for every family.

Even the most well-behaved dogs sometimes forget their training, which is why experts suggest regularly working on recall and other commands. While this is unquestionably vital for keeping them safe, it's also essential for minimizing sibling embarrassment.
