Pit Bull Waits Behind Screen Door to Scare His Brother and Actually Gets Him Good

Scaring your siblings is one of the greatest parts of having siblings. There is nothing better than scaring your sibling and actually getting them good, no matter how old you get. Bonus point if you get them so good they're still mad years later!

On Monday, September 9th, one dog mom was absolutely certain that her Pit Bull's attempt to scare his brother was going to be unsuccessful: he was hiding behind a screen door! There's next to no way he didn't see him! However, when he finally came out, he was indeed pretty spooked:

Odin and Pete are classic brothers. They take turns bullying each other, and they're equally good at getting under each other's skin. It's good to know that this kind of behavior isn't just a human thing!

Odin is actually more of the scaredy-cat in this relationship, so it's fun to see him finally getting Pete back for once. Odin typically scares himself more than his brother scares him: sometimes he chews on his toys too aggressively or barks too big and then he loses it. Knowing his boundaries is some very respectful behavior!

Now, don't tell Odin this (please cover his delightfully floppy ears), but Pete could totally see him the whole time. Even so, after staring him down for a second, he does jump: it's Odin's reward. The two of them celebrate his victory by zooming around the yard. It's very sweet and big-brotherly of him! My sister is nine years younger than me, and I have pretended to be scared out of my mind on several occasions!

Most Common Things That Scare Dogs

Odin obviously will not make the list, but there are definitely a lot of things that could spook your dog that you might not even realize. It may seem stupid to you, but avoiding unnecessary scares is actually the best way to curb a lot of bad behavior!

There are lots of things dogs see every day that can be scary, like:

    1. Shadows
    2. Sudden movements
    3. Loud noises
    4. Things falling very suddenly
    5. Anything that looks big and looming, like a big bag or even a large stuffed animal
    6. Mirrors

It's okay to laugh if your dog is a little scared of something ridiculous, don't worry. For example, our girl dog is terrified when we open one very specific kitchen cabinet, even though nothing has ever come out of it that could be scary. Don't go out of your way to scare them with it, but it's okay to try and desensitize them (just a little at a time) but showing them the item until it stops scaring them.

When your dog does get scared, just pet them and tell them it's okay - you could slip them a treat if you really wanted, too. Being scared is, well, scary!

Odin was hiding behind the aluminum strips that frame the door, he can do that because of his slim and trim figure. 🐶😁
