Cat Mysteriously Summons Dog Out of Bed at Same Time Every Night & People Have Questions

After pets have lived together long enough, they truly do become like siblings, and they learn to understand each other (and, in some cases, intentionally annoy each other) like no one else does. It's almost like they've created their own secret language and are able to communicate each other without even barking or meowing. It's really heartwarming to see, especially if you were stressed about them getting along in the first place.

But are this dog and cat duo taking it a step too far? One parent shared the weird nightly tradition that her pets have, and it's leaving people with a lot of questions. What's going on here?

On Tuesday, September 10, @lindzaceto shared this TikTok video to show what her cat and dog do every night ā€” and at this point, she has no real explanation for it.

"Every night, my cat comes in and summons my dog out of bed," she wrote in the video.

Sure enough, her black and white kitty walks right over to that dog bed and stands there (waiting for the dog to get up, of course), and after a second, he gets up and follows her out of the room.

What happens next? Well... it seems like that's their business, because from the way they're looking at her, humans definitely aren't invited to their meetings.

Commenters are dying to know what's happening (and honestly, so am I). One person wrote, "Oh you need a camera in the living room to see what they are up to in there."

Another had a different perspective, writing, "If they wanted you to know, you would have been invited!" Fair enough.

How Do Cats & Dogs Communicate?

Regardless of whatever those two are getting up to every night, they sure have the whole communication thing down. But since they belong to two different species, how do dogs and cats communicate so effectively to begin with?

As petsitting blog Rover Time points out, there are certain ways that these animals communicate similarly that helps them figure each other out. Their vocalizations are similar ā€” a happy noise is usually happy, and an angry noise is usually angry, whether it comes from a cat or a dog.

They may also blink slowly at each other to show that they're not a threat, and groom each other to show that they like each other. And if they start laying down next to each other (or even snoozing side by side), that means it really is real love for them.

Whatever those two are doing in the video, though, has not been discovered. I'm going to need an update STAT...
